I think overall, the lyrics are lacking depth that I know Creed is capable of. I really do enjoy some of the music on Weathered, but not so much that I'm going to listen to it regularly, like I do MOP and HC. When it first was released, I was especially drawn to "Bullets" and "Freedom Fighter", mainly because I enjoy the harder Creed tunes and the metal inspired songwriting I know is Mark's. I loved "My Sacrifice" at first, even though I am sick to death of it now. I really enjoy "OLB", it's probably my fave, even though the video makes my forehead crinkle. "WGMB" is creative, but it'soo long on the CD to me. The other slow songs don't appeal to me at all. They sound sort of sappy in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, on the whole, it's an upbeat CD, a happy, uncomplicated listen. And many of the songs on Weathered that I don't like sound so good live. I hope whoever sees them on tour, they will enjoy the concert as much as I did in February. But to me, on the whole, I was expecting deeper, more thoughtful lyrics from Weathered. Might they have come with more polish, more effort and time put into the CD? I don't know. True, there's diversity on the CD as promised, but the lyrics lack the imagery, (frantic, faction, focus) urgency and emotions evoked on the first two CD's. I'm thinking what they are trying to say on this CD has been said before elsewhere, but better, more intensely, and definitely more imaginatively. I guess if there were no HC or MOB to compare, I'd maybe think differently.
